Business signage is a main key to getting a customer’s attention and drawing them in. Hanging up a huge posting that informs the customers of new sales and discounts help make a place thrive. Now most people will probably think that there is no rhyme or reason that goes along with picking out business signage, but the truth is that it is practically a science. Many things play a factor in creating the perfect placard for the occasion. Color, size, shape, simplicity, and location are all very important things to consider when designing and hanging up an advertisement for a business.
When it comes to the color there are no set rules stating that they must be of a certain shade. There are some more commonly used colors such as red, yellow, blue, white, and black. The goal is to get the attention of the public by having something posted that really stands out. The one thing that a person needs to seriously consider when creating any business signage is the contrast between the colors of the background and the letters. They should be easy to read from a reasonable distance. It needs to be legible and easy to understand. If a customer has to strain while looking at an advertisement or company logo they will lose interest all together. If a light color is used for the lettering then it would not be a good choice to use a light background color. On the other hand, when black is used as the color of the lettering, white would be an ideal choice for the background.
Size is another thing that many people wonder about. There is no right answer to this question either. There are plenty of different sizes in which to choose from, and every store owner will have their preferred size. The trick here is to have a placard made that is large enough for any customer or potential customer to see from anywhere inside the business. A business owner should carefully consider the size they choose in accordance to the area it will be posted in, because if it is too large it will be somewhat distracting and a bit of a nuisance. This could have an adverse effect with the customers paying no attention to the placard. The smaller sizes do have their purpose as well. A store owner may want to place some of their smaller sized business signage at the checkout counter. This gives the customer the ability to see some of the fine print that one would not put on a larger posting. These are also good for highlighting any upcoming events that the store may be having.
Placement is extremely important when it comes to catching the public eye and relaying information to them. If placards are hung or placed inappropriately, the maximum amount of exposure would not be reached. The places where the customer traffic is the heaviest are the best locations for business signage. Quantity isn’t necessarily the key to success here; it is all about the placement. The store owner should be careful not to clutter the area of the postings as this will take the attention away from the message that is being portrayed.
